Lidl North Macedonia won first place for the best legal entity in the field of occupational safety and health for 2025. The company won the award in the Service Activities category, which includes financial, information, transport, trade, service and other services, in recognition of the systemic investments and high standards it applies in caring for its employees.
The recognition is awarded on the occasion of April 28, World Day for Safety and Health at Work, at an event organized by relevant domestic associations and institutions in this field, where companies were awarded that during 2025, through investments and implementation of good practices in their own development, have realistically and professionally contributed to the creation of safe and healthy workplaces.
The award for Lidl North Macedonia refers to the project "Safe Work on a Construction Site" during the construction of the company's logistics center, which extends over an area of 67,000 square meters. In the implementation of this complex project, 75 domestic companies – subcontractors were engaged, who, working according to Lidl’s strict safety standards and procedures, contributed to achieving an exceptional result. During the construction, not a single work injury or other safety incident was registered. This is a direct result of the systematic approach, continuous education, strict control and consistent compliance with all occupational health and safety protocols.
The award was received on behalf of Lidl North Macedonia by the Head of Occupational Health and Safety, Nadica Fotev.
“This recognition is a confirmation of Lidl’s continued commitment to creating a safe and healthy working environment. The company continuously invests in prevention, education, improvement of working conditions and development of a safety culture, thus ensuring high standards in every segment of its operations. At Lidl, we do not see a safe working environment only as an obligation, but as a core value and responsibility towards our employees, our subcontractors and partners, as well as towards the environment. We will continue to invest in modern solutions, education and practices that contribute to the long-term well-being and security of each member of our team”, said Fotev.
This year’s celebration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, led by the International Labor Organization, is dedicated to creating healthy psychosocial working environments, with a focus on mental health, well-being and sustainable work practices.
In this context, Lidl North Macedonia’s health and safety processes, procedures and policies aim to create a safety culture that goes beyond legal requirements. As part of its long-term strategy, Lidl remains committed to applying the highest standards of occupational health and safety, contributing not only to the well-being of its employees, but also to the development of responsible and sustainable business practices in the wider community.
