Lidl starts store construction in Gazi Baba
Lidl continues to invest in the country at an accelerated pace. With a symbolic laying of the cornerstone, the company today marked the start of the construction of another store in the capital, located in the Skopje municipality of Gazi Baba. The retail facility will be built on a plot in an easily accessible area and with direct access to the main city roads. With this, Lidl announces the expansion of its sales network as part of the company's strategic and long-term development plan in the country.
The new retail facility will cover an area of approximately 2,500 square meters, of which approximately 1,500 square meters will be intended for sales space. 130 parking spaces are provided for visitors, which will allow easy access and comfort when shopping. Like all Lidl stores, this one will be built according to modern standards for energy efficiency, functionality and sustainability, with a carefully thought-out layout and a pleasant atmosphere for customers.
The representative of Lidl North Macedonia emphasized that the investment in Gazi Baba is a confirmation of the company's confidence in the potential of the Macedonian economy.
"With the construction of each new store, we strengthen our sales network and improve our connection with the local community. Gazi Baba is a dynamic and busy municipality and we believe that it is the right location to continue our investment story here. Our goal is to create modern and functional retail centers that will offer high-quality products at affordable prices, through an efficient and sustainable business model, while at the same time creating new and stable jobs", said Goce Gavrilov, Real Estate Director at Lidl North Macedonia.
As part of the company's commitment to responsible operation, during the construction of the store, care is taken to preserve the greenery and planted trees. 200 trees will be preserved, and 32 new seedlings will be planted for the 15 removed. The store will have a plot of greenery of 3,636 square meters. This area exceeds the legally binding 20% greenery that an investor must realize when building a facility.
Boban Stefkovski, Mayor of Gazi Baba, announced that Lidl's new investment will provide a better offer for the citizens of the municipality.
"As a local government, we are continuously working to create a favorable business climate and attract reputable companies. The construction of the store in Gazi Baba is an indicator that the municipality is developing into an attractive and promising business environment, capable of meeting the standards and expectations of a global retail brand such as Lidl. This investment will bring new jobs, greater choice and generally additional value for the residents of the municipality", emphasized Stefkovski.
Lidl's presence in the country also has a broader economic dimension, through its active contribution to the export of domestic products to European markets. Last year, the export of Macedonian products through the Lidl network reached 15.5 million euros, which is a joint success, but also proof that Macedonian companies can meet the highest European standards.
